What’s The Deal With Acne Scars

If you’re one of those unfortunate people that suffer with the distinct appearance of acne related scars, I’m sure you’ve researched or at the very least glanced at a method of reducing your acne scars. There are surgical operations like CO2 Laser Surgery or Punch Grafts and harsh procedures like chemical peels as well as topical creams and treatments, all of which have proven to be effective in terms of reducing or even eliminating acne scars. But which of these methods is the best? When you ask yourself what the “best” something is, there are several things you have to look at like; is the best method safe? Is it effective? Is it worth the price tag? If you can honestly answer yes to those questions than I guess you’ll have no problem making your decision, but just in case you’re not sure here are some things to think about.

Surgical procedures like CO2 surgery and punch grafting first off, are not cheap. They can run anywhere between $1000 and $5000 in addition to a whole laundry list of harsh, irritating side effects. Both procedures work on the principle of causing trauma to the skin in order to cause cellular regeneration. Laser surgery basically involves using a high powered laser to bore tiny holes in the skin, while Punch grafting is basically taking skin from another part of your body and grafted over the scarred area. Although both of these methods have proven to be effective, the side effects that accompany them are almost as bad as the cost. Ranging from redness and inflammation to painful sores, sensitivity to sun light and tenderness, all of which can last up to two weeks, chemical peels seem to do more damage.
