My teenage brother in law has this friend and the other day he and I were discussing how his friend needs to pop the huge zits on his face. But then there are a lot of doctors and skin gurus that will tell you not to pop the zits because it could lead to scars.

There are a lot of people I know with acne scars, though. Is this because they popped the zits so hard or just left them there and they left a scar. I would personally not let a zit fester on my skin like that, and I remember when I was a teenager and got my first one and didn’t know any better to take care of it, I did have a mark (a small scar) there for a long time. So what is it exactly that causes the scars? Is it because you did or didn’t pop? And if it is because the person chose to pop, is it because they did it too hard or picked it too much?

It’s really disgusting to have acne, and even worse to have the scars. I absolutely HATE the acne scars on my back, and also on my face. They make me feel so ugly. I have acne scars and I cannot go out the house without putting concealer on. The cream dries very quickly, is it OK to put concealer on over it? Should I use a mineral concealer?

I am 34 years old. I am not scarred. I’ve heard the same message touted for years that picking or squeezing pimples causes scarring. I have always popped my pimples because the pressure becomes too painful to bear otherwise.

I wonder if those people that say not to squeeze or pop pimples have ever actually felt the pain.
Has anybody actually done research on why people with acne scar?

The scars are across my cheeks. They’re not very visible with make-up on, but from certain lights and angles I can still see the indents in my face! I hate them!
