Acne Introduction
Acne is a skin disorder resulting from the action of hormones on the skin’s oil glands (sebaceous glands) which leads to plugged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and outbreaks of cysts or nodules commonly called pimples and they may occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. Most of the teenagers are affected by the acne. However, the disease is not restricted to any age group; adults in their 20s – even into their 40s – can get acne. Being not a life threatening health condition, acne is still upsetting and disfiguring as sometimes it leads to permanent and serious scarring. Even less severe cases leads to scarring.

For the people that have had to endure the effects of Acne and Psoriasis, the scars that are left behind from acne can often be as burdensome as the acne itself. These scars or pockmarks come in different shapes, and have their own particular category of identification. The scars are caused by tissue loss, and over production of collagen that form in to a coarse sinewy mass. One of these skin deformations is called icepick, and is identified as sharp narrow marks with the skin taking on the appearance of having been punctured many times with an icepick leaving lots of little surface holes, which often extend deep into the skin tissue.

I was thinking of getting it done because once my face cleared up the acne left a lot of scars on my cheeks even though I never picked at them or anything. I was just wondering if laser treatment for acne scarring really works? I already know its a costly procedure that is why I’m asking.

I used to pick big holes in my face from acne and now have red scars all over my face. I don’t do it anymore and my face is clear now, but I really want to get rid of the scarring. I’ve thought of trying things like miderma, but since they’re older scars and on my face I don’t know if that will work.
