Are there any home remedies for acne or acne scars?
I’ve been trying my best to get rid of my acne, and it seems to be working. I’ve been drinking about four water bottles a day and washing my face. Any tips?
Also, I have really bad acne scars on my cheek that are like red blotches. I’m tired of having to cover them up, so are there any home remedies that can help them look less visible? I’m willing to buy any product that can help too but I want to try some home remedies first.
Ten points best answer! Thanks in advance

I heard that mixing powdered milk and peroxide makes a paste to lighten the scars.
Many beauty products on the market have harmful chemicals in them; do your favorite beauty products contain any of these things?:
* Mineral Oil, Paraffin, and Petrolatum – Petroleum products that coat the skin like plastic, clogging pores and creating a build-up of toxins, which in turn accumulate and can lead to dermatological issues. Slows cellular development, which can cause you to show earlier signs of aging. Suspected cause of cancer. Disruptive of hormonal activity. By the way, when there’s an oil spill in the ocean, don’t they rush to clean it up – fast? Why put that stuff on your skin?
* Parabens – Widely used as preservatives in the cosmetic industry (including moisturizers). An estimated 13,200 cosmetic and skin care products contain parabens. Studies implicate their connection with cancer. They have hormone-disrupting qualities – mimicking estrogen – and interfere with the body’s endocrine system.
* Phenol carbolic acid– Found in many lotions and skin creams. Can cause circulatory collapse, paralysis, convulsions, coma and even death from respiratory failure.
* Propylene glycol – Used as a moisturizer in cosmetics and as a carrier in fragrance oils. Shown to cause dermatitis, kidney or liver abnormalities, and may inhibit skin cell growth or cause skin irritation.
* Acrylamide– Found in many hand and face creams. Linked to mammary tumors in lab research.
* Sodium laurel or lauryl sulfate (SLS), also known as sodium laureth sulfate (SLES)– Found in car washes, engine degreasers, garage floor cleaners… and in over 90% of personal care products! SLS breaks down the skin’s moisture barrier, easily penetrates the skin, and allows other chemicals to easily penetrate. Combined with other chemicals, SLS becomes a “nitrosamine”, a potent class of carcinogen. It can also cause hair loss. SLES is sometimes disguised with the labeling “comes from coconut” or “coconut-derived
* Toluene – Poison! Danger! Harmful or fatal if swallowed! Harmful if inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Made from petroleum or coal tar, and found in most synthetic fragrances. Chronic exposure linked to anemia, lowered blood cell count, liver or kidney damage, and may affect a developing fetus. Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) contains toluene. Other names may include benzoic and benzyl.
* Dioxane– Found in compounds known as PEG, Polysorbates, Laureth, ethoxylated alcohols. Common in a wide range of personal care products. The compounds are usually contaminated with high concentrations of highly volatile 1,4-dioxane, easily absorbed through the skin. Dioxane’s carcinogenicity was first reported in 1965 and later confirmed in studies including one from the National Cancer Institute in 1978. Nasal passages and liver are the most vulnerable. Dioxane is easily removed during the manufacturing process by “vacuum stripping”.
Warning: It is a synthetic derivative of coconut. Watch for hidden language on labels, such as “comes from coconut”.
IF SO, you should throw them away IMMEDIATELY and you can substitute virgin/extra virgin olive oil or a natural coconut oil to moisturize in the meantime until you find a better, natural alternative!!! Tell ALL your friends and family!!!
Put toothpaste on existing acne overnight, and wash off in the morning. Get a good exfoliator, use once a day, a clay mask to use once a week, and the neutrogena wave to use everyday as well.
the best thing is to go to a dermatologist…they can give you something made specifically for acne scars..It’s a kind of soap you use and wash off…
also I heard tea tree oil is amazing, if you really really need a home remedy
Try to keep your hair off your face at all times, don’t eat greasy foods or oily stuff like that, wash your face preferably with Clearasil, and sleep early
I’ve heard that honey, toothpaste and apple can all help dry up acne.
Ex foliating your skin will probably help with scars and old marks. Try using a sugar scrub, just add a bit of water to sugar and rub into skin, then rinse.
Some really great products you can buy:
Mederma skin care for scars — works great! you can even use it to heal red marks, it works very quickly. It also fades acne scars fast.
Persagel by Clean and Clear — this stuff works so fast! It dries up pimples and clears skin in no time. Just a little dab with do.
good luck!
this is so weird!! but i swear by it!
use crest whiting toothpaste on your face for about 10 minutes!
lol it works.
good luck
I have the same problemo too. (: Here are some that I found helpfull.
-*-Put toothpaste on your pimple before you go to bed, should help reduce swelling overnight. Make sure it is the paste not the gel. One of the most popular acne home remedies.
-*-Wash your face twice a day in warm salty water. This should leave your face oil free without aggravating the acne.
-*- Apply fresh lemon juice on the affected area overnight. Wash off with warm water next morning. [[But it burns like crazy on opens pores]]
-*- Ice down the acne before bed, by morning it should be noticeably less swollen. Works best on larger pimples that have not yet formed a head.
[[I usually wrap it in a paper towel and circle it over the pimples for like 20 minutes then put lemon juice on it. It works pretty well.]]
-*-Blend cucumber and make a paste. Apply this as a mask on your face and leave it for 1/2 hour and then rinse. This refreshes your skin and prevents acne.
I know there isn’t much but I hope these help.
