Anyone with severe acne, and acne scars?
Is there anyone out there with severe acne, and acne scars? Don’t you just hate it and wish it would all go away? I’ve had this for about 8 years now when I was about 13 years old. It has gotten beter through the years, but not enough to satisfy me. What medications do you people use? What gets rid of oily skin? I have tried almost all the products out there. I was even on accutane for 6 months in 2003 when I was 18, but no results. I’m thinking about getting laser surgery in Irvine, California. I heard that chocolate makes you break out even more is this true? I hope not. Also, I heard you could get rid of them by having sex. Any infomation would be great. Thank You

Im sorry but chocolate and sex have nothing to do with acne!
use proactive!! it works well with oily skin because i have oily skin and i dont break out anymore. its worth it!!
Go to your Doc and get on the Obagi system. It is wonderful and works for acne and scars/discoloration. Do this and ask for doxycycline (antibiotic), also do microdermabrasion once a week if you can.
This will work amazingly but you must have patience, all acne treatments take time and patience.
I have been on the system since late Feb., I had cystic acne and now friends and even RANDOM people compliment my skin!
I reccommend having the doc put you on that antibiotic (kills acne bacteria internally), and then ask for retin-a. (it goes with Obagi system) Actually you can buy the Obagi system on Ebay for half the price, I do and it’s the same product! Please give me your email if you’d like, I’d love to share this product, it truelly works. Also I know how bad it feels to have acne. And no, sex doesn’t work, sorry.

Gosh…acne! besides a cure for AIDS and Cancer, this would be right around there somewhere.
I am female and I used birth control pills for a bit and that was grand, but for the past six months nothing has worked. I tried Murad and that didn’t help either. As well as herbal and homeopathic remidies. Ok…I have tried everything! I will start on Proactive next week so I pray that will work, so many people have sworn by it. It also clears up scars as well.
Go to a dermatologist (if you haven’t already) there are choices of Differin gel, tetracycline, Retin-A and stuff. Perhaps one of them may work.
Sex doesn’t help directly…the reason people say this is because sex is like exercise and you usually get the blood circulating all through your skin including your face (you know? the nice flush?) Which is why exercise should help. Lots of water too.
As for the scarring…if it is serious, I agree with one of the other respondents – microdermabrassion (about $150 a pop)or some laser work (a bit more expensive). My scarring is not bad and clears up on it’s own in a few months so I use daily moisturizers with Active soy (Aveeno).
