Acne treatment Levulan: Before, watch my daily progress.
I am undergoing The Levulan treatment for my acne, discoloration, scarring, large pores, and rough texture. I am 28 years old, and feel that if I don’t do something about my skin now, it will only get worse. My acne is moderate, but I used to pick which gave me bad scarring. Levulan is administered in a doctors office, it sits on your skin overnight, then is activated the next morning at the doctors office under a red or blue light. I am a bit anxious but excited at the same time. The healing process is not fun, but NEW skin will be the end result!!

@maliolani 4th day after treatment and my last post. Almost all of the skin that was exposed to the Levulan/blue light treatment peeled off in the last 24 hours, so the timing for me was very much like that for sumloveswinter. It’s only about 100 hours from the procedure to recovery for me. The new skin is very soft. This time I just have to resolve to take care of it. Good luck if you try Levulan too.
@maliolani 3rd day after treatment. Much of the redness is gone and the skin has started to peel like crazy, starting around the chin, then upper lip, then every place I had a wrinkle. For sumloveswinter, it seems her peeling was very fast, but mine not so much. You can’t just peel it off. Of course the new skin is softer and smoother, but I need another day of peeling, at least, to get a good idea what the permanent effect will be.
@maliolani 2nd day after treatment & the pain has disappeared, but my face is like a leather catcher’s mitt, stiff and still bright red. Very deep wrinkles are appearing as the drying skin pulls together, but will be gone after the peel. I can just see the 1st signs of peeling starting on my chin. Everything itches. Aquaphor seems to make my skin break out in dozens of bumps, so I switched to Curel lotion, which is also not so greasy and pillow-destroying.
Yesterday I had Levulan/blue light (30 min) for sun damage, sebaceous hyperplasias, precancers, etc. The procedure is simple and painless. The discomfort hit 8 hours after, with burning like the worst sunburn ever and some swelling. Hard to sleep the 1st night as I couldn’t put pressure on my face with the pillow. Hard to open mouth wide enough to eat – tightness, burning. So far today is a continuation of yesterday’s discomfort but hopefully better soon.

@lancieb27 I have noticed that as far as my breakouts go, they are soooooo minimal, if you looked at my skin, you would never know that I had acne. All of the painful acne that was under the skin is gone too, which is awesome because it really is painful when that happens.
@sumloveswinter
ok i see it was IPL. lol
My problme is more oily skin and sundamage so that is the light source best off for me
@sumloveswinter
Thanks for the info. Did you use the IPL light source and will it keep the sebaceous glands at bay or will they become overly-active again. Anotherwards, are you going to have to have another treatment session.
@lancieb27 Hi, this helped with smoothing the skin texture for sure. All of my scarring, and bumps,( which I thought was sensitivity) is smoothed out dramatically.
@sumloveswinter
did it help with skin texture
did it help with your skin texture? Seems your really happy with the results. I have a lot of sun damage from being a tennis coach here in Fl and you mention that improved that as well.
Thanks for doing this. I am having this procedure soon (first hyfrecation in 2 weeks, followed by aminolevulinic acid/kerastick 2 weeks after. I really wanted to know how it would be afterwards. I appreciate it.
@Rosvigis I have not had any prior laser or light treatments. Just the levulan and then IPL to activate it. I was told that IPL, which is a form of red light, works better for the purpose of reducing acne and closing off sebaceous glands, rather than blue light. Either one can be used though.
hi there! your´right I´ve also been looking for tutorials about Levulan on YouTube for months and yours is the very first one I’ve found, so thank you for posting it! I´ve already seen your Day 1 and Day 2 videos and you said that you got IPL before red or blue light, I never red about IPL applied with Levulan, I thought you only needed red and blue light to activate Levulan.. does IPL application improve the results? is it painful? i mean don´t they use kind of a anesthetic cream or sth?
Lemme know if you have any questions. I would luv to answer them.
Thanks.
