Accutane question about scars? Help?

I just went to the dermatologist for the first time and i got some pills and other stuff to try and if that doesnt work she is going to put me on accutane straight away so im excited of course. I have unfortunately some scars from acne on my chest and back. Not like the pocket ones just like marks. Will accutane help the scars as well? And if not what are my other options for getting rid of the scars? Thanks guys

Accutane will do nothing for scars or hyperpigmentation (red marks). It will, however, keep you from getting new scars or red marks as it will get rid of the acne causing them. The hyperpigmentation will fade on its own over time. The best thing you can do is wear sunscreen when you’re outside because exposure to sunlight will actually make the red marks last longer.
